Original ideas statement

My music magazine is going to be based on an indie music genre. My inspirations for this idea are NME magazine and Q as I read these weekly.  I have also based my magazine on my own music taste as I believe I will be able aim the magazine at what I would like and so it would appeal to others with the same music taste.  I would aim it at 16-25 year olds who listen to indie music, because of the age I am aiming it at I would put the price at an affordable price of around £2.50 as this applies to the demographics of a young age who are working class, I would then make this a monthly magazine to make sure that they can afford it every time, but then I would have to put a lot of information on the cover and more cover lines in order to make it a full months copy. I would use a colour scheme of mainly blues blacks and whites as these can be quite gender neutral and apply to different audiences. I may also use a red similar to how Q and NME use in their masthead, as this attracts the audience to the cover due to the bright colour. My front cover will be mainly quite graphical, as I like the magazines that aren’t conventional; however I will follow a lot of the normal magazine conventions. I would most likely used a band member, but incorporate a graphical scheme into the image, maybe by using a black and white effect, or draw the image and scan in and create it that way. I would like to have my magazine based on music and art as I think that they work well together. I will use an intriguing image, as well as interesting puffs to make the target audience. I want the reader to see the image as aspiration and the puffs as something that makes them want to read the magazine.
